Very Dark Fruit Cake from The Star Recipe Book from 1928

Take 1 1/2 glasses of brandy, 1 1/2 lb of flour, 1 1/4 lb of sugar,1 1/2 lb of butter, 1 1/2 lb of mixed peel, 1 lb of dates, 1 lb of raisins, 1/2 lb of currants, 1/2 lb of almonds, 1 teas of salt, 8 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger, 1/2 teas of cinnamon, 1 teas soda, 2 teas cream of tartar,1 teas of cocoa. Beat the butter and sugar to a cream, add eggs, one at a time (unbeaten). Add milk gradually, then brandy, cocoa, salt, cinnamon, and ginger. Then add flour, beat thoroughly, then add all of the fruit, and lastly cream of tartar and soda; Bake for 6 hours.
