And now for the HAM BONE

Classic PEA AND HAM SOUP  – SLOW COOKER

  • 500 gm split peas, soaked overnight or for 8 hours, then drained
  • 2 lts water
  • 1 ham bone
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • black pepper
  • 2 tabs fresh thyme chopped

 

  1. Place all ingredients in the slow cooker (except the thyme)
  2. Cover and cook for 8 hours or overnight on low
  3. Remove the bay leaves and the ham bone and any ham pieces
  4. Use a stick blender to puree the soup to a desired consistency Replace the ham
  5. Serve with sprinkled thyme, and GF Damper / toasted sourdough / yoghurt / sour cream.
